Background of the Wine Festival
The Wine Festival in Kufstein originated from an extraordinary gesture of solidarity. After the devastating floods of 2002, the city of Kufstein supported the Lower Austrian town of Langenlois in its reconstruction efforts. This collaboration developed into a close friendship—and shortly afterwards, the idea of a joint wine festival was born. To this day, the two towns are united by a shared passion for enjoyment, personal connections, and genuine hospitality.
Background of the Kufstein Vineyard & Kufwein
A special symbol of this friendship between the two towns is the “Kufstein Vineyard” in Langenlois. The grapes harvested there are used each year to produce the so-called “Kufwein,” which is presented exclusively at the Kufstein Wine Festival. Each vintage receives its own label as well as a new godmother or godfather, giving every year its own unique story.
New Event Formats
In addition to the Wine Festival, new events invite visitors to explore the world of wine in greater depth. Whether through various wine tastings with winemakers, a wine glass tasting, or a guided hike to the Weinbergerhaus on Brentenjoch with a sommelier and mountain guide, the focus is on personal encounters, special locations, and shared enjoyment.
The Wine Festival as the Highlight of the Week
The Kufstein Wine Festival is the highlight of Wine Week, transforming the city park in the heart of Kufstein into a vibrant meeting place for wine, culinary delights, and social gatherings over two days. Winemakers from Langenlois and other renowned wine-growing regions present their creations—from crisp rosés to distinctive red and white wines—served in premium glasses by Riedel. The result is a unique atmosphere where fine wines and conviviality come together, accompanied by live music and regional specialties from Kufstein’s local gastronomy.

As part of the Kufstein Wine Week, a special culinary experience awaits you in the heart of nature: a guided wine hike up to the Weinbergerhaus, including an exclusive tasting and breathtaking panoramic views.
Together with sommelier Matthias Breitsameter and the Schweiger winery, you will embark on an enjoyable journey through the wine world of the Kamptal region in Kufsteinerland.
Along the way, movement, nature, and wine knowledge combine to create an unforgettable experience.
Once you arrive at the Weinbergerhaus, a carefully curated tasting of selected wines awaits.
The Schweiger winery will present its wines personally, while sommelier Matthias Breitsameter guides you through the tasting and shares fascinating insights into grape varieties, winemaking techniques, and the unique characteristics of the Kamptal wine region.
